Estimating In Paradise You don’t need a pencil and paper Or even your cool calculator When you need an answer and it can’t be late Just round all the numbers and then estimate Just circle the place that you’re rounding to Check the number to the right If it’s five or above, give that circle a shove If it’s four or below , then you can let it go! Chorus: Estimating in paradise Using mental math is very nice Not too particular – not too precise It’s just estimating in paradise Remember the number you circled Then write in zeroes again and again Do the math in your head, just like I said Bet your bottom dollar you’ll be rounding money then When you use some quick estimation You can always get the answer you need For the sum or the quotient, or the difference The product needs no logic – is this making sense? Chorus: Estimating in paradise Using mental math is very nice Not too particular, not too precise It’s just estimating in paradise ****With claps **** Circle and check and sooner or later Heavens to Betsy you’re a great estimator! Add those zeroes and you’re ready to go Finish the problem- now don’t be slow! Chorus 1x

Decimal Song 03:05
The Decimal Song Add & subtract these decimals with me The easiest way is to do it vertically Now line up the decimals like buttoning a shirt Just add or subtract, you know it’s going to work They don’t do math like that anymore They don’t do math like that anymore Multiplying decimals is easy can’t you see Just multiply the numbers save the decimal for me Now count all the (decimal) places & total them for me Now move it to the left in your answer yes indeed They don’t do math like that anymore They don’t do math like that anymore Dividing decimals is tricky yes indeed Move the decimal in the divisor to the end Now do the same movement to the dividend my friend Line up the decimal in the quotient just for me You’re ready to go, just divide it’s plain you see They don’t do math like that anymore They don’t do math like that anymore (2x)

Factor Down a Tree The lesson of the day/ was making factor trees There is just one thing the factors are prime What are primes? They’re a special type of number Only factors are 1 and itself Chorus 1 : Factor down a tree The lesson seemed strange to me It never would come to me Break down the number please Factor down a tree The number 9, branch it down with primes You get 3 times 3 They are so prime 3 times 3, circle them for me Yeah I can see a factor tree Chorus 2: Factor down a tree Break the number down for me Branch it out in 2’s and 3’s Circle all the primes for me Factor down a tree The number 12 - branch it 3x4 Now circle the 3 - branch the 4 You get 2x2 -you know just what to do Just like the 3 before circle the 2’s Chorus 2 You can simplify - give Powers (exponents) a try You can square or cube all the like primes Let’s try 24 Branch it 6x 4 Now it’s 3 x 2 x 2 x 2 SIMPLIFY! Divisibility 03:27
Divisibility These are rules for divisibility – these are rules you divide with ease Let’s start with the number 2 – goes into even numbers yes it’s true Number 5 is easy can’t you see – ends in a zero or a 5 it’s free Number 10 has just one rule- ends in zero, yeah you know that’s cool It seems these rules are easy now There are more rules, I’ll show you how Dividing never seemed to be so easy These are rules for divisibility These are rules you divide with ease In this song you’ll remember rules Who’d have thought learning is so cool Let’s try the number 3 – add the digits up and then you’ll see If the total is a multiple of 3 – then you have divisibility Number 4 is not a chore – last two digits really tell the score If they are a multiple of 4 – that’s a rule for 4 you can’t ignore It seems these rules are easy now There are more rules, I’ll show you how Dividing never seemed to be so easy These are rules for divisibility These are rules you divide with ease In this song you’ll remember rules Who’d have thought learning is so cool Here’s a rule for the number 9 – add the digits up you’re doing fine If the total is a multiple of 9 – like the 3 you have divisibility These are rules for divisibility These are rules you divide with ease In this song you’ll remember rules Who’d have thought learning is so cool

Still Algebra to Me What’s the matter with the steps I’m showing? You need a pencil not a pen to write Should I buy a new calculator? There’s a special at the new Shop-Rite Here’s a 20 for the calculator, Sonny I wish I had more but I’m all out of money Teacher’s always talking about math is money, but it’s still algebra to me I’m having trouble with these things called equations You have to get the letter alone Add or subtract, do I multiply, divide? Please help, don’t leave me alone Don’t you know you gotta isolate the letter Use the inverse, you know it’s gonna get better Opposite, inverse, let’s sing another verse – it’s still algebra to me Do the same to both sides, you’ll realize that it wasn’t really hard to do The opposite you’ll see will cancel out the 3 – is it getting any easier for you? Inverse means the opposite too What’s the matter with the steps I’m showing? You know you got it right my son I didn’t need that new calculator Keep the money you deserve some fun Don’t you know you gotta isolate the letter Use the inverse, you know it’s gonna get better Opposite, inverse, let’s sing another verse, it’s still algebra to me Having trouble with these things called equations I finally got the letter alone If it’s add you subtract, if it’s multiply divide The inverse helps you find the unknown Don’t you know you gotta isolate the letter Use the inverse, you know it’s gonna get better Opposite, inverse, let’s sing the last verse It’s still algebra to me Teacher’s always talking about math is money, but it’s still algebra to me

Ones, tens, and hundreds Ah-woo! Ah-woo! Ones, tens, and hundreds Ah-woo! A 7 in the hundreds place Means 700 4 in the tens- that’s 40 3 in the ones – that’s a little old three That number was seven hundred forty-three! Chorus If you see some numbers And there’s three of them altogether Remember each one has its place Place value is ones, tens and hundreds That will always be the case Chorus
